Tony Gonzalez Update Will He Be A Falcon In 2013?

After the loss to San Francisco in the NFC Championship game, the latest Tony Gonzalez update was almost certain retirement. Things may have changed for the Falcons starting tight end. We knew that Mike Smith would have to talk to Gonzalez, if for nothing else, try to increase that 5% chance of his return.

In what I consider shocking news, at least the timing, Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, made some bold statements. Reports from an NBC interview on Thursday, Dimitroff was quoted using “50/50″ as a better guideline for a Gonzalez return in 2013. Like I said, the timing is strange. Atlanta could use the first ballot TE in 2013, and Falcons fans would love to know he’s suiting up again. Maybe the Falcons could muster some Ray Lewis like magic that Baltimore found, and send Tony out an NFL Champion for his last ride?

“Tony has done so much for us on and off the field and I don’t believe, not stating that he would be lying to anyone, but I don’t believe the 95 percent,” Dimitroff said Thursday on NBC Sports Network’s “Pro Football Talk.” “I want to believe it’s a lot closer to 50/50, to be honest with you, and we’ve had discussions.”…More at Tony Gonzalez’s return is more 50/50, Falcons GM says – NFL News

Sports no longer just for viewing pleasure | Dateline Alabama – “I would be rooting for the Falcons, but not wanting Matt Ryan to throw to anyone but Tony Gonzalez, not even [former Alabama star wide receiver] Julio Jones,” Gurney said. Adam Levitan, a writer for Rotoworld, one of the …
