Jets Starting Quarterback: Another Circus Season Is Brewing
Jets Starting quarterback is still not known but, it’s clear who Marty Mornhinweg is backing. Ian Rapoport told NFL’s Total Access on Friday that “Marty Mornhinweg will unequivocally side with rookie Geno Smith if the offensive coordinator has a vote”. The Jets can’t afford another media circus NFL season in 2013.
Head coach Rex Ryan is already on the hot seat and this news won’t help him any. The real question is how are Jets fans still supporting this team? Mark Sanchez has had his time to show what he can do. The only reason he is still on the teams roster this season is that guaranteed money in his contract. If that’s not bad enough Geno Smith isn’t exactly a great, or even good, second option. The Jets starting quarterback decision boils down to choosing between bad and worse. If there was a good option for a Jets starting quarterback, there is almost no talent to support him.
The New York Jets fan base has only one option left…stop showing up! It’s time to demand change before the 0-16 Detroit Lions are not considered the worst team in NFL history. The new front office even seems to have distanced themselves from any decision-making? The sad thing is that this dumpster fire isn’t even entertaining anymore, just sad.
Lost in all of this is that Rex Ryan is a damn good football coach but, all he will be remembered for is the colossal failure of the past two seasons if 2013 isn’t a success. There is no reason to think it will be. In fact it’s looking like it could be worse than 2012. Good luck Gang Green Nation, the 2013 NFL season looks like another long cold season in New York.
