Utah State to face New Mexico State in Arizona Bowl

New Mexico State: The Aggies are playing in their first bowl game since the 1960 Sun Bowl, when they defeated Utah State.

USU will travel to Tucson for the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl vs New Mexico State on December 29 at 3:30 p.m. MT. It will be USU's sixth bowl game in seven years.

The two Aggie teams most recently met in 2012, during USU's past year in the WAC, with Utah State winning 41-7.

Utah State: The Aggies were a football-only member of the Sun Belt Conference from 2003-04, and they played New Mexico State both seasons. The 2 they wanted did end up in the bowl, with NMSU and USU. The Aggies are led by head coach Doug Martin, who is in his fifth season at the university.

"We are excited to prepare for a quality New Mexico State team that had an outstanding season".

"If you stick us too far back east, then it becomes a financial issue with our fans and if you're obligated to buy X number of tickets and we can't sell them to our fans, then it becomes a costly enterprise", New Mexico State chancellor Garrey Carruthers told the station.
USU has never faced Sun Belt members Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State or South Alabama.

New Mexico State, which closed out the regular season by winning three of its final four games, led 13-7 at the half and increased the lead to 16-7 early in the fourth.
