Chennai: TVS Motor Company, a leading manufacturer of two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the world, today announced the launch of TVS Apache RR 310. This bike has been created to be a global offering and will be a true example of make-in-India for the world.
The new bike, is the first product out of TVS Motor-BMW Motorrad alliance formed in April 2013 to design, make and sell sub-500 cc motorcycles for India and emerging markets. Initially, the distribution would be through 50 select dealers across the country with the primary focus being on major cities. Being one of the most crucial bikes for TVS, the company has put in some serious man hours, putting the RR through a number of tests like the wind tunnel test for aerodynamics and track tests on multiple circuits in order to flawless its riding dynamics and handling characteristics.
Although TVS and BMW are in technical collaboration to bring up this fully-faired motorcycle using same platform as the G310R, the design and development have taken individual approaches as per each companies' likeness and requirements.
The company, he said, is "committed to the premium and super premium segments" and will launch further products.
It will strengthen its position in the sports category of the premium bike market. It is divided into three segments - sports, tourer and heritage. The Apache brand has already clocked 2.5 million units in cumulative global sales so far and should hit 3 million by this year end.
The Apache now has the RTR 160, RTR 180, RTR 180 ABS and the latest and much anticipated RTR 200 4V. "We want to delight customers who enjoy race-like driving". As for the future, KN Radhakrishnan, president & CEO, TVS Motor Company said: "We want to grow faster than the industry and gain marketshare".
Driven by our promise of delivering more to customers than their expectations, TVS Apache RR310 is the latest offering from the TVS Apache stable - a super-premium motorcycle brand from TVS Motor Company.
