Melania Trump, Karen Pence stop at Whataburger during Coastal Bend visit

Politicians' wives - they're just like us.

First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence arrived in the Coastal Bend Wednesday to meet with families affected by Hurricane Harvey and the first responders who are part of the recovery effort. "The American chain opened its 1st restaurant in Corpus Christi, TX in 1950!" tweeted Stephanie Grisham, Mrs. Trump's director of communications, along with a photo of the women ordering their lunch.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to accompany the First Lady in Texas and to visit with families and their children in the communities most impacted by the storm". She and Mrs. Pence paid the bill, according to a reporter. She continued, "In fact, the President shares the same concern and he and his administration continue to fight for resources for the people of Texas". They also helped with a poetry class in the school library.

The second lady was in Texas with Trump today, visiting with locals and first responders as well. "Thanks for stopping by".

On Wednesday, Trump and Pence stopped by Whataburger after meeting with Hurricane Harvey victims in the state.

Corpus Christi Police Department spotted them and commended their burger choice. They also traveled to Rockport, Texas, to meet with a family whose home was destroyed in the storm. For now the family is living in a FEMA-provided trailer that now sits next to the remnants of their home.
