Fabregas: 'I wasn't in Conte's plans, I proved him wrong'

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has been fined £8,000 after admitting an FA misconduct charge following his sending off against Swansea.

Fabregas' impact on Chelsea's title winning campaign was crucial last season, and when you consider the fact he provided an awesome 12 assists in just 13 starts, it's easy to see how he won his manager around.

The Spain worldwide played a key role in Chelsea's Premier League title winning campaign last season, but was exiled by his manager following a series of bust-ups and sold to Ateltico Madrid in the summer.

"You can just give up and accept you are not going to be part of the team or the club in the future".

"I would be lying if said I wasn't anxious".

He said: 'I also want the referee to learn something, for me, Swansea was wasting time.

He added: "I made a mistake".

"I would be lying if I say that I wasn't anxious [about my future]", Fabregas said in a press conference ahead of Chelsea's clash with Atletico Madrid, relayed by ESPN. I understand his philosophy and must say I am very proud of this.

The three clubs who Chelsea can face in the next round are PSG, Barcelona or Besiktas.

To go with five English teams into the next round, that means the level of the league is very high.

Fabregas will play a big role coming ahead if Chelsea want to compete on all four fronts with his vision being key to Chelsea unlocking defences.

The Blues may have to compromise over the rule of handing players aged 30 and over 12-month contracts, with the Spaniard said to be after a two-year extension. "When the moment comes to talk about different things I'll be here, ready for it".
