Earthquake measuring 5.5 hits Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district, tremors in north India

Tremors were felt in several parts of North India as a medium-intensity natural disaster measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department said. Everything was moving for a while.

A strong natural disaster that was estimated to measure 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Uttarakhand around 8:50 pm on Wednesday. After these shocks, people have an atmosphere of panic and came out of their homes as precaution. So far there is no information about the loss of life or property of any kind of quake.

European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said that tremors were also felt in Uttaranchal and magnitude 5.0 and epicenter 121 Km East of Dehradun.

Many people took to Twitter just after the natural disaster was felt by them.

Uttarakhand comes in an area which is more prone to quake. "The depth of the quake was 30 km". On Tuesday, a 3.3 magnitude quake was reported in the state.
