Bluehole offers a look at PUBG's new desert map: Miramar

One of the most upsetting things about playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds at this moment is the limited sea-faring vehicles.

Modern gaming phenomenon PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is getting a new map for its 1.0 launch, and while screenshots of it have been floating about for some months now, the maps has finally been named, with details about its individual locations revealed. In creating it, the authors would like to map significantly different from Arangala - site available in the current version PUBG.

In contrast to the lush fields and forests offered by the island of Erangel, Miramar will render barren desert terrain and dense urban areas. As the developers put it, "Miramar will create a new Battle Royale experience where the old strategies may no longer work, and new tactics are required".

The post went on to give details on some of Miramar's key points of interest, shown in the above topographical map. There are both large and small roadways connecting the cities, in addition to a couple of "crater" locations that are unique to the desert map. According to Microsoft, these will be only items that can be purchased during the game's preview period.

Revealed on Twitter, players will have access to a new rifle, The Win94 rifle is "world spawn weapon" and is the third new piece of content announced to be arriving with the map.

It contrasts to the now existing map, Erangel, in that it's not an island. Don't forget to tune into The Game Awards, where the latest desert map will be officially making its gameplay debut with other special PUBG announcements lined up.
