From there he proceeded to Abakaliki, to begin his 2-day working visit to Ebonyi and Anambra States.

President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged his determination to urgently address the infrastructure deficit and related challenges confronting the South-East.

The presidency had in an earlier statement assured that his government does not discriminate against any part of Nigeria, least of all the south-east. "Our 2018 budget included many projects for the region in the area of power, agriculture and social services".

"We are collaborating with the Chinese government to deliver these projects, and have taken very seriously our counterpart funding obligations". I thank you all.

Buhari noted that his visit to Ebonyi was an affirmation of his government's commitment to achieve a united Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens.

"Ibiam is a great Nigerian whose contributions and notable record in humanitarian-free primary education advocacy and rural development have been inspirational to all".

On arrival in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, President Buhari inaugurated a number of road projects, including two Flyovers on the section of the African Trans-Saharan Highway that runs between Enugu and Cameroon.
