Marcus Rashford's idol at Manchester United might surprise you

The England global has made a promising start to the Premier League campaign in his second season under Jose Mourinho.

Rashford and Martial were not happy with Mourinho's criticism of their form following the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. "The thrill of scoring a goal, you get that same thrill when you save a good chance".

And as a United fan, Rashford admires American worldwide goalkeeper Howard, who played at Old Trafford between 2003 and 2006.

"Tim Howard was my idol".

Marcus Rashford will become "the full package" for Manchester United after being forced to learn on the wing, says Andy Cole.

"I look at him at the moment, he's scoring goals and he's bringing a lot more things to his game", the former United striker told ESPN FC. However, it was during that time that Rashford joined the United academy, and seeing the American shot-stopper in action left a lasting impression on him that he still harbours today. I get asked this all the time and I think that's down to the individual and how far they want to go.

"They both like to play in the same position and that is hard", Mourinho was quoted as saying by the Independent.

The pair were both named in the starting line-up on Saturday (18 November), as the 20-time champions of England thrashed Newcastle United 4-1 at Old Trafford, but that was only the 12th time the duo have been on the pitch at the same time in their careers.

However, Mourinho did steer the Red Devils to Europa League, FA Cup and Community Shield glory during his debut campaign at the helm, and Rashford has challenged his side to continue picking up silverware with such regularity.

"They both prefer to play on the left than the right, both playing with another striker through the middle".

"In this area, so many kids love playing football", Rashford added.

"So to play them [Martial and Rashford] together gives us things but also takes some things from us".
