Woman left with broken jaw after man pushes her onto railway tracks

CCTV footage has shown the horrific moment an unsuspecting woman cleaner was pushed onto railway tracks by a man in Hong Kong. A man in a blue shirt and beige cap walks behind her and shoves her onto the tracks before calmly walking away.

Onlookers rush to the platform edge to help her up while the attacker calmly walks down the platform.

The incident took place at the Yuen Long station of Hong Kong's Light Rail system.

The 59-year-old, who has not been named, is seen lying on the tracks staring up at the man on the platform as he walks away.

Police arrested the man near the train station on suspicion of assault that resulted in bodily harm.

The incident occurred at a train station in the town of Yuen Long, said the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

No train was passing at the time, but the terrifying possibility clearly resonated with social media users, who have shared the video thousands of times.

"The woman suffered injuries to her jaw and was sent to Pok Oi Hospital for treatment", a police spokeswoman told the Post.

As of now, why the man pushed Leung into the tracks is still unknown, but officers are trying to get to the bottom of it.
