Though it might be the Nokia 8's equal in terms of specs, based on these images done by OnLeaks for CompareRaja, the Nokia 9 will jump on the bezel-less and curved edge display train that Samsung is now driving. Many concept images of the flagship smartphone have been leaked online, and now new renders of the Nokia 9 corroborate previous leaks.
Specs wise, the Nokia 9 sounds rather plain and might even be, in at least one way, sub par to the Nokia 8. While there isn't a concrete number in terms of megapixel count, it is speculated that it will arrive with either a 12MP or 13MP unit, and we can see that it will implement a dual camera sensor setup. The placement of the dual cameras on the Nokia 9 are a bit peculiar. The camera module itself looks pretty similar to Apple's design already and protrudes from the back of the handset. Instead, the fingerprint scanner can be seen embedded on the rear of the phone.
Speaking more about the design of the Nokia 9, it looks like the company will be ditching the 3.5mm audio port after all, and shifting to USB Type-C for earphones. Another take away is that it doesn't have a headphone jack.
Details on pricing and availability weren't given, but a leak from earlier this week suggested that the Nokia 9 might be announced sometime in early 2018 alongside the budget-friendly Nokia 2 and the mid-range Nokia 7, according to Phone Arena. When it comes to software, the phone is expected to run on Android Oreo.
In other Nokia-related news, HMD Global has confirmed that the Nokia 8 will not be available in the United States after all. The phone is said to come with a bigger 5.7-inch display that will be nearly be almost bezel-less.
