In a crowded superhero movie landscape, how is 20th Century Fox going to make The New Mutants stick out?

It's finally here! After being teased yesterday afternoon, the first teaser trailer for New Mutants is out and looks electrifying.

According to the image, the trailer will be released at 12:01 A.M. PST on Friday, October 13. "We're trying to do something very, very different". They're hormonal, they're powerful, and they're ready to wreak havoc on just about anyone who crosses them, as today's first-look teaser proves. Now that you've seen the first trailer, are you all in? Taylor-Joy promised. "We definitely kept all the important bits in there". It's also been described as a horror movie set in the X-Men movie universe, which is something totally different from anything we've encountered so far within the franchise. The gang will discover their powers whilst imprisoned, but they will be forced to use their mutations to save themselves from the location. Inspired by the dark supernatural horror of the "Demon Bear Saga", which ran from New Mutants #18-21, Boone has upped the ante by creating a world in which powerful mutants are essentially "institutionalized" because they aren't safe. That is, before the Demon Bear mauled its victims and all. Let us know how excited you are for New Mutants by giving the film your own personal ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating below. Certainly, since there are exactly six months until New Mutants hits theaters, there's still plenty more to see in terms of a full trailer and the studio's major promotional push closer to the release date.
