The Cleveland Browns have chose to make a change at quarterback in the wake of some of the struggles that rookie DeShone Kizer has had in the early part of the season.

BEREA, Ohio - Kevin Hogan will be the new starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns when they play the Houston Texans on Sunday, coach Hue Jackson announced Wednesday.

It's safe to assume that rationale played in Jackson's decision to make the change a permanent one. He has worked extremely hard and still very much has a bright future. Kizer fumbled inside NY territory on a third-and-goal play from the 3-yard line during the first quarter, then threw a gut-wrenching interception in the second quarter on the Jets' 4-yard line. "I don't play this game to sit on the bench".

Hogan, who was selected in the fifth-round of the 2016 NFL Draft, replaces rookie Deshone Kizer. With Kizer at quarterback in the game, Cleveland had 175 total yards and two red-zone turnovers as he completed 8 of 17 for 87 yards with an interception. Through three games this season, he is 26-of-38 with 377 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Kizer has an 0-5 record, completing only 50.9 percent of his passes for 851 yards, three touchdowns, a league-leading nine interceptions and a 49.5 passer rating. He was promoted to the active roster in October.

"He's completely riding with me still", Kizer said during his media session Wednesday, per Pro Football Talk. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity".
