Honeypreet Insan confesses to inciting Panchkula violence

Meanwhile, the Panchkula Police today issued a notice to Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan asking her to join investigations tomorrow. Police claimed she was mastermind of the plan to spread violence if dera Chief is convicted by the CBI court.

The CBI has recorded the statement of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in connection with a case of alleged forced castration of his 400 followers.

Honeypreet, the "adopted daughter" of Gurmeet Singh, is accused of having instigated the violence that followed Gurmeet Singh's conviction on August 25. Honeypreet confessed to plotting violence: SIT While producing Honeypreet and her associate Sukhdeep Kaur before the court on Tuesday, the SIT stated that she had confessed to her involvement in plotting violence ahead of the verdict against Gurmeet in Sirsa.

Haryana Police had arrested Honeypreet from Zirakpur on October 3, around 25 kilometers from Chandigarh. She also said that no woman was ever molested inside Dera and there are holy relations between her and Gurmeet Singh. "We have verified she headed the important meeting from testimonies of other arrested Dera members".

Following the conviction of the Dera chief, violence had erupted in Panchkula and Sirsa claiming 41 lives.

On August 26, Kumar, the then deputy commissioner of police in Panchkula, was suspended by the Haryana government, a day after at least 35 people died in the district in violence triggered by the self-styled godmans conviction.

Haryana Police had filed an FIR against Honeypreet, along with other top Dera functionaries Aditya Insan and Surinder Dhiman, accusing them of sedition and arson.

Singh is now serving a 20-year sentence at Rohtak prison after a Haryana court held him guilty in a rape case.
