The poll process in Himachal Pradesh will start with the issue of the gazette notification on October 23 when candidates can start filing their nominations.
After scrutiny on October 24, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 26, he said.
The poll panel has convened a press conference this evening to announce the poll schedule.
The three-member Election Commission (EC) headed by Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti on Thursday announced that 9 November as the date of polling in Himachal Pradesh for the Assembly elections and the 18 December as the date of counting. All critical events will be video-graphed, said Chief Election Commissioner AK Jyoti.
"We will have VVPATs along with EVMs".
CEC said that the size of screens of VVPAT machines will be increased to 10 cm.
The Election Commissioner said, "Model code of conduct for Himachal Pradesh assembly election comes into effect from now itself". There will be 136 special all-women managed polling centres in Himachal Pradesh, two in each constituencies. Also, bulk SMSes and voice messages on phone will come in the purview of election advertisements, Joti added.
The expenditure limit for contestant has been fixed at the maximum of Rs 28 lakh for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly election. The term of the 68-member HP Assembly ends on January 7.
The dates for the Gujarat Assembly election will be announced later.
