Funeral set for soldier at center of Trump fight

Sgt. Johnson told friends she will be named La'Shee.

By the end, Kelly issued a stunning rebuke of Florida Rep. Fredrica Wilson and her claims that President Trump was insensitive when he called the widow of Sgt. One such outreach backfired, leaving a family feeling that their late son, Sgt. The family member who raised Johnson called Wilson's account of the call "very accurate", and the White House has not refuted that Trump spoke those words.

It marked the fifth day of a controversy that has raged since Trump attempted to deflect criticism of his handling of the deaths of four service members in an ambush in Niger.

In that circumstance, the limo driver listened in, too - there was no escaping it. "She was just told that he can not have an open casket funeral, which gives her all kinds of nightmares about what his body must look, what his face must look, and this is what the president of the United States says to her", Wilson told CNN. Her husband was one of US four soldiers killed in Niger early this month. "And the worst part of it: When he hung up you know what she turned to me and said?". We looked it up in the dictionary because I had never heard of an empty barrel.

THE FACTS: Kelly's recollection is incorrect.

A video of her speech at the ceremony showed Wilson did not take credit for securing the money. She did mention during her speech that she had led a congressional effort to name the building after two fallen Federal Bureau of Investigation officials.

"Yes the statement is true", she said. "I refer you to the campaign that handles her press inquiries".

Wilson, who represents Florida's 24th District, also said Myeshia Johnson believes the president didn't even know her husband's name, describing her as "distraught". She said she then rushed the bill to Florida Sens. The audience responded with loud applause.

He later insisted that he "didn't say what that congresswoman said, didn't say it at all". La David Johnson was one of four American soldiers killed almost two weeks ago; Trump made a telephone call to the families on Tuesday.

After the video emerged, the White House tried to amend Kelly's complaint. "Absolutely stuns me. And I thought at least that was sacred".

TRUMP: "The Fake News is going insane with wacky Congresswoman Wilson (D), who was SECRETLY on a very personal call, and gave a total lie on content!" Trump later defended his claim by publicly disclosing that President Barack Obama had not called Kelly after his son, Robert, was killed in Afghanistan.

The White House said Wednesday that a check has been sent.

"There were several people in the room from the administration that were on the call, including the chief of staff, General John Kelly", Sanders confirmed this week. The slain soldier's aunt and uncle, Richard Johnson and Cowanda Jones-Johnson, who raised him as parents, were in the vehicle. Johnson leaves behind two children, ages 2 and 6, and his beloved wife who is pregnant with their third child. His family enrolled him in 5000 Role Models, a project Wilson began in 1993 when she was an educator to mentor African-American males and prepare them for college, vocational school or the military.

But Trump wanted to make the calls, and asked Kelly for advice on what to say.
