Major football organisation FIFA announced they have suspended Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). The suspension has been ordered relating to the "third party" interference in the management of the national body. The FIFA council agreed their decision on 10th October. Furthermore, audit wasn't carried despite warnings from supreme body of football. The PFF teams will no longer be entitled to compete in elite competitions until the ban is lifted. The Pakistani football officials including referees would face the axe as they would no longer be able to take part in any of the FIFA or AFC events.
Then-PFF president Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat was accused of embezzlement by the second faction, which had the backing of an influential figure in the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party.
"The Bureau took this decision as a result of the fact that the PFF offices and its accounts remain in control of a court-appointed administrator".
In an exclusive interview with The Dependent the Barcelona star said that Argentina's chances of winning the 2018 World Cup have significantly increased now that Pakistan, who didn't even play the qualifiers for next year's tournament, won't be standing in their way.
Despite its size and the world's sixth largest nation by population, Pakistan is ranked 200th of FIFA's 211 member nations and the men's national team has not played a full global since a 0-0 draw with Yemen in a World Cup qualifier in March 2015.
It is pertinent to mention here that the minister is completely unaware of Pakistan Football Federation situation as it was mentioned time and again that FIFA's suspension on Pakistan is looming large and the government must act quickly or else Pakistan football will suffer.
The already sinking ship of Pakistani football seems far from being rescued. Federation Internationale de Football Association only recognise Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat-led body, but like witnessed in the past, the minister always remained busy in saving the blushes of his blue-eyed persons, rather than paying heed to resolve this all important issue.
