Xenoblade Chronicles 2's overdrawn (over eight minutes!) showcase on Nintendo's latest Direct was agonising.

The sequel will release on December 1, 2017.

There's also a limited edition Xenoblade Chronicles 2 themed Switch Pro Controller with an appropriate decal and color scheme.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the upcoming game from developer Monolith Soft for Nintendo Switch and now the studio has confirmed the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date. The game takes place amongst the cloudy skies, where the last of humanity live on the backs of colossal beasts known as Titans. "You can form powerful bonds with Blades, unique beings granting tremendous power to their users, called Drivers".

Also, there's a massive new trailer.

By the end of the year, the Nintendo Switch could well have three great open-world, fantasy role-playing adventures in its expanding library. It has been critically acclaimed and was one of the best rated Wii games on Metacritic, with a score of 92/100.

The special edition will include a copy of the game, soundtrack CD, a 220-page art book, and a special steel-book case.
