West Indies Considered Walk-off in Rain Curtailed Game

Chris Gayle, who returned to worldwide cricket against India in July having not played for Windies since the final of that 2016 World T20, has been included in the tourists' squad.

England had one hand on the trophy until a last over where, in a superb display of clean hitting, Brathwaite struck four successive sixes off rival all-rounder Ben Stokes in Kolkata in May previous year.

Pakistan won the deciding third Twenty20 worldwide against a World XI by 33 runs to ensure celebrations in Lahore.

The one-day worldwide series starts on Tuesday.

Windies: Windies' batting line-up picks itself with Lewis, Gayle, Samuels and Pollard all set to be included as well as Brathwaite in the middle order.

"Social media won't let me forget it, there's been a few videos going around of late. It was on the stage it was, it was against England and in India".

He added: "We kind of gave it an ultimatum. we got the outfield roped and we were in agreement that if it continued to be unsafe or if anything dramatic or drastic happened we'd call it quits".

England, however, have taken the controversial decision to rest him from Saturday's clash.

This time, paceman Brathwaite damaged England with the ball when, in his only match of the tour - - he was not selected for the Test or one-day worldwide legs - he took three for 20 runs in 3.3 overs.

Team News, England: England have two spinners in their squad - Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson - but will likely play just one given the expected conditions.

"I can see both sides of it, of course guys want to see him play", said Morgan.

"There's the potential [in one-off games] to learn about younger players".

The fixture was an important one for Ireland who were only recently granted Test status by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

"We knew we had to stick in it", said Brathwaite. "It's a long time ago".

England legend Ian Botham criticised the decision in a column for the Daily Mirror earlier in the month, saying: 'I feel for the people at the club who have put in so much hard work around this game and built a lot of our promotion around Ben'.

"Adil and Liam got us back in the game, but with the bat our skill level wasn't there".
