Shahid Kapoor impresses as Maharawal Ratan Singh

The first look of Shahid Kapoor in "Padmavati" is out and the actor is looking every bit the Rajput king Maharawal Ratan Singh in the poster of the film. In the first picture, Shahid Kapoor has a scar on his right cheek, while in the second one, he is seen wearing a bloodied white kurta and holding a sword amidst the backdrop of battle.

Shahid Kapoor shared both the looks early morning on his Twitter handle with a caption that read: Maharawal Ratan Singh sahas, samarthya aur samman ka prateek hai.

While the movie is gearing up for its release, the Shri Karni Sena, an outfit of the Rajput community had warned Sanjay Leela Bhansali that they will oppose screening of "Padmavati" if facts are "distorted" in the film. Ranveer plays Alauddin Khilji in the ambitious period drama.

Deepika essays the titular role of Rani Padmavati while Shahid plays her husband, Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in the film.

The film is slated to hit theatres on December 1.

A group of protesters gathered in front of Rajmandir Cinema Hall and shouted slogans against Bhansali and burnt posters of the film. It also required him to maintain a certain physique, for which the actor underwent a diet change that involves consuming a lot of protein.

But the auteur seems to have surpassed himself this time with his impassioned magnum opus, his long-cherished "Padmavati", that's set to release on December 1. The designer duo meticulously worked on Deepika Padukone, Ranveer SIngh and Shahid Kapoor's outfits.
