Pitroda said that Gandhi will meet overseas Indians at an event in NY as part of an outreach by the Congress party.
Entrepreneur Sam Pitroda confirmed that Gandhi will not be giving lecture on Artificial Intelligence during his visit to the US.
In his first engagement, Gandhi today addressed students of the prestigious University of California, Barkley on India at 70: Reflections on the Path Forward, in which he will offer his reflections on contemporary India and the path forward for the worlds largest democracy. Rahul Gandhi's grandfather and India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had delivered a speech at Berkeley in 1949.
The Congress vice president is also likely to address members of the think-tank community at an event organised by the Centre for American Progress. Apart from financial aid, Rahul's visit is also aimed at establishing his persona internationally, similar to PM Modi.
Ahead of the visit, Gandhi had posted on his official Twitter handle that he was looking forward to interacting with Indian Overseas Congress members and tehnocrat Sam Pitroda. Rahul will also attend the Congress' family meet in Paravur and Kunnathunad taluks.
"Most of the country runs like this", he said, "so don't go after me". Pitroda also added that Rahul may not be talking much about his United States trip but it is important that he meets a large number of people hold interactions with them understand the what is going on not just in India but the world over. Gandhi would also hold meetings with Indian technical professionals at Silicon Valley.
The foreign tours of Rahul Gandhi are known for attracting controversies, and this time too, things are no different.
Gandhi, 47, will travel to Los Angeles from San Francisco.
