Evan Blass - the famous leakster - has revealed last month that the new Google Pixel 2 flagships would arrive on 5 October. Though these look like official press renders, it's important to keep in mind that these aren't images coming straight from Google, but they do match up with quite a few of the past leaked images, though the white and blue colors weren't seen in those past images.
Even though Google's big October 4 event is still a couple weeks out, it seems we've just gotten a really good look at the four most important devices we expect the company to announce there.
What are your impressions of the Google Pixel 2 XL design and pricing rumor? Google will offer a 64GB model of the Pixel 2 XL for $849 and a 128GB model for $949. Both mix matte and shiny pieces, while the black and white one also features a coral button, and kind of looks like a cookie.
Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2
Like last year's Pixels, the Pixel 2 will be made by HTC (which Google is reportedly considering buying).
Google is planning to release a mini version of its Google Home smart speaker, called the Google Home Mini, according to Droid Life. It seems that Google will be adding "sleep sounds" like meditation, nature, ocean and so on that can automatically turn off the Google Home as the user falls asleep. We imagine the new phones will ship with Android Oreo, the latest version of the operating system. Just like the Google Home, the Home Mini will come with Google Assistant inside to schedule tasks, control smart devices, and play music.
At $49, the speaker will compete directly with Amazon's Echo Dot, which is also sold for about $50.
The speaker will be available in three colours: Chalk, Charcol and Coral, with the price expected to be $49USD (About $61AUD) when it launches.
