Liverpool spent most of the summer fending off Barcelona's interest in Brazilian worldwide Coutinho, rejecting a host of bids to keep the playmaker at Anfield despite his desire to make the move to Catalunya.
The last thing Liverpool will want is to go through the same saga all over again next summer, while the news will be a huge blow to Coutinho who had still hoped to secure a move to Camp Nou despite failing to do so in the transfer window just gone.
Struggling with an alleged back injury, Coutinho missed the first six games of the season for Liverpool, but returned in Wednesday night's 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the Champions League.
Now, having made his Premier League return to Jurgen Klopp's side in the club's 1-1 draw at home to Burnley on Saturday, Coutinho insists he is exclusively focused on giving his best to the Merseyside club.

"What happened is that I received an offer, and in life sometimes you're interested and sometimes you're not, but in my case, as everyone knows, I was interested and sowas my family", he told ESPN Brazil. "But as I have always said, it is a great offer to receive an offer from such a great club like that. Liverpool are a great club". I'm here and I will give my best as always.
"It was a complicated month for me, but like I said I'm here now".
"So what I can do is work hard and honour that on the field".
Philippe Coutinho handed in a transfer request to move to Barcelona. "I have conquered my space in four, five years and never had any problems with anyone - the fans, the board, my team-mates, the coaching staff".
