Louisville planning bid for Amazon's second headquarters

More than 100 cities across the country are reportedly vying for Amazon's second headquarters, a holy grail of economic development that would bring 50,000 high-paying corporate jobs and an estimated $5 billion in investment.

"A 45-minute drive to an global airport - which technically we do have - but there are certainly lots of other cities that have worldwide airports that are more worldwide and cover more places". "We're working with the state and local economic groups trying to be as effective as possible before submitting a proposal".

"It's too early in the process to discuss specific locations, but we're hoping to get ideas from all over the city".

Gary spokeswoman LaLosa Burns says the city paid about $9,500 for the advertisement and plans submitting a formal bid to Amazon.

"The case for NYC is strong; we have the best workforce and the largest customer base".

Borough President James Oddo would love to lure the company to the North Shore to open its second headquarters.

And the city of Dallas is poised to be one of the top contenders. "I fully expect the city to include a Staten Island component in its official response to the RFP", he added.

Metropolitan areas with more than 1 million people.

Chicago could be a favorable location for the second headquarters because of its various universities, central location in the USA and acces to a strong transportation system, said Matthew Ragas, an associate professor in the College of Communications at DePaul University. "Then our leadership-I have driven leadership; a hardworking City Council with Ronald Brewer at the helm and my Mayor, Karen Freeman-Wilson, a woman who believes enough in my promise that she works tirelessly to lead a phenomenal team to fight way above their weight class".

"Recently, you announced that you were looking for a new community partner", the advertisement said. I am ready to welcome a new business to town - but not just any business, one like Amazon that will transform me for my citizens.

"In my last job we worked with them to bring the first three fulfillment centers and thousands of jobs to this state and came to have a admiration for the company".
