Liverpool to appeal against Mane ban length

Klopp was clearly unhappy that Sadio Mane was sent off in the first half for a high-challenge on Ederson, which saw the City goalkeeper carried off on a stretcher.

Senegal worldwide Mane, who will serve a three-match domestic ban after receiving a direct red, was likely to feature in the mid-week game while Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho could make his first start of the campaign. He did not suffer concussion and was cleared of serious injury. The game's major talking point came when Mane chased a long ball over the top and raised his boot as Ederson came rushing out.

The 24-year-old, signed for £35m from Benfica this summer, was merely trying to assist his defence in a way manager Guardiola much approves.

He believes he is settling well at City and says the emphatic win over Liverpool was the flawless preparation for Wednesday's Champions League game at Feyenoord.

"You can close your eyes to it and say there isn't a problem, if you want to, you're more than capable of doing that". Out of nothing, De Bruyne splits the defence in half with a handsome through ball which Aguero gets on the end of, rounds the goalkeeper then rolls home.

Chelsea recorded a 2-1 victory over Leicester City as former Fox, N'Golo Kante, sunk his former side. The hosts then took a firm grip after Mane's dismissal. Both Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane scored twice.

"They scored the first goal with 11 men but we still created chances with the speed of Sadio and Mo".

"I don't know what he thought, I only said to the fourth official I thought it was not a red".

"I had an unbelievable year here but when I come I try to win and today was important and I am happy to score".

"That's probably a good thing, the game comes early and we can put things right, change it again".

We continue this weekend with more fantastic English football, and more excellent games.

The Reds were subsequently beaten 5-0 by Pep Guardiola's men although the Reds played the final 53 minutes with 10 players following Sadio Mane's sending off.

"It never works", the German said of any appeal.

Liverpool have been criticised for their defensive, however in attack they have been firing on all cylinders, scoring 14 times in their past five games in all competitions.
