Guardiola, a former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager, has yet to win a trophy since taking charge of City at the start of last season.

That building work has involved spending big on five major signings.

Everybody knows that Guardiola's game big time depends on full backs so it's no wonder that City spent nearly £150m on Kyle Walker, Benjamind Mendy and Danilo, while other two signings are potent midfielder Bernardo Silva and Primeira Liga's best goalkeeper Ederson. But Guardiola said: "Hopefully next season I will be here and we are not going to spend how we spent this season".

Personally, I believe they'll top their previous achievement.

Mauricio Pochettino has earned plenty of praise for the way he has nurtured a talented young squad over recent seasons, but there is a feeling that this particular crop of Tottenham players have missed their chance.

Until Sports Interactive releases a new mobile game around late October, Football Manager Mobile 2017 continues to be the best simulation of sports management for Android devices and many Premier League fans will easily sink weeks and months into it with no regrets.

That's all for now, we'll be back around 2:30PM (UK time) to round-up on the day's events so far and get stuck into the 3PM fixtures!
