Only one ticket in the country matched all six numbers in the Friday night drawing for the largest jackpot in IL history.
A ticket sold in IL matched all six numbers, winning the grand prize amount.
The two other Mega Millions jackpots won this year were awarded to a California man, who won $191 million, and Texan Eliberto Cantu in Arkansas with $177 million. The winning numbers for the August 11 drawing are the white balls 23, 33, 53, 56 and 58, plus the Mega Ball 6. The ticket was sold at Nick's Barbecue in Palos, Heights, Illinois, just 30 minutes outside of Chicago. Those tickets were sold in Washington state, OH and California, according to a release.
The jackpot is the fifth largest in the history of the game, the Lottery said. Tonight's Powerball prize is worth $356 million.
The jackpot has been growing for four months, having last been won on April 8 in California. All said, there is no denying the fact that the odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot remain extremely low - one in about 258.9 million for Mega Millions.
The jackpot in Saturday's (Aug. 12) Powerball drawing is expected to top $350 million.
