Deadpool 2: Zazie Beetz Issues Response to Stuntwoman's Death

Joi "SJ" Harris sadly passed away when her motorcycle stunt went terribly wrong on the set of the movie in Vancouver.

"On Monday, we tragically lost one of our own: Joi SJ Harris".

Witnesses said Harris appeared to lose control of her motorcycle while filming outside the Vancouver Convention Centre and crashed through a ground floor window of a nearby office building.

The tragic news of yet another stunt performer losing their life on a film set shook those involved in the making of Deadpool 2 this week.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that sources in the stunt community believe Harris was hired not because of her experience, but because her skin tone was a close match to Beetz - a balance Wong says the stunt coordinator and director work to strike. "Deadpool 2" is expected to hit theaters on June 1, 2018. It has been reported that Beetz's previous stunt double had a helmet fit to go under the Domino wig, however Harris' sudden hire for the part did not grant them enough time to have one made for her before filming began.

Actress Zazie Beetz, who plays Domino in the sequel, took to Instagram Wednesday to share a handwritten note, honoring Harris.

Ryan Reynolds has proposed a minute of silence in tribute to the young woman who was killed on a motorcycle 48 hours earlier. "The cast and crew send peace, healing, and their deepest condolences", she continued.

A professional motorbike racer from NY, she was on her first movie as a stunt double and was not wearing a crash helmet. We send our deepest condolences to the Harris family during this hard time and will remember her legacy.

"She was fearless and relentless in her pursuit of her dream, to ride as a motorsports professional", said a statement posted on Harris's Facebook page Tuesday.
