Akshay Kumar's latest Bollywood movie "Toilet Ek Prem Katha" (TEPK) is doing great at the box office. In spite of good reviews, this Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari film couldn't steal the limelight from Shree Narayan Singh's Toilet-Ek Prem Katha. It has released worldwide on Wednesday, August 11th. The Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer, which had a strong social message, was expected to perform well at the box office, given the increasing buzz around it from the very start. Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey have done their career best work with each other in films like Special 26, Baby, Rustom and Naam Shabana. This pic a direct reference to Akshay Kumar 's film which is a satirical comedy in support of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a governmental campaign to improve the sanitation conditions, with an emphasis on the eradication of open defecation, especially in the rural areas. The film has now joined the Rs 100 crore club and it doesn't look like it's stopping just yet. "One of the promotion strategies had been to keep the ticket prices on the opening day as low as Rs 80-100 across several multiplexes in Mumbai and that acted in the film's favour", said film trade analyst Atul Mohan.
The movie is Akshay's eighth Rs.100 crore grosser which makes him the second superstar after Salman Khan who has been giving consistent hits. Saturday's collection is to be revealed later today.
