Former Walking Dead star Sonequa Martin-Green headlines the cast of Discovery as First Officer Michael Burnham.
Martin-Green cuts a commanding figure in uniform as Lt. Commander Burnham, and we also get to see Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou, who looks to be a mentor figure for Burnham. Each new Star Trek show has put its own stamp on the title, and Discovery is no different.
Local fans will be delighted to know that Yeoh is featured front and centre in the newly released trailer and photos of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access. The series will premiere its first episode on CBS, and then all subsequent episodes will be available on CBS All Access. Those troubles appear to be in the past, as the new trailer looks like a pretty incredible Star Trek show. Burnham is a human who was raised by Vulcans, but is told by Spock's father Sarek (James Frain), that she will never learn Vulcan. Among what was shown in the trailer was a clip corresponding to the newly-released image from the show.
Exciting new looks at the crew, new aliens, old aliens with a new look and the USS Discovery were revealed in the two and a half minute clip.
There is also good news for fans of the series with the announcement this morning that it is expanding to 15 episodes. Also featuring The Office's Rainn Wilson, Orphan Black's James Frain and Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs, Star Trek: Discovery will air in the United States on CBS "this fall". In addition to its upcoming original CBS All Access is now available online at CBS.com, on mobile devices via the CBS App for iOS, Android and Windows 10, and on Roku Players, Apple TV, Chromecast, Android TV, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Fire TV.
The world needs Star Trek.
