Telegram adds video messages and public 'Telescope' videos

Video messages are already rolling out via an update on the Play Store in version 4.0 of the application.

Additionally, Telegram today is introducing, a new service that allows anyone to view video messages from public Telegram channels.

"Video messages are automatically downloaded and autoplayed by default (you can change this in Settings if you're on a data diet though) and generally feel and act like voice messages - on visual steroids", reads a blog post from the Telegram team announcing the new feature. The feature now also works with voice messages. Starting with version 4.0, Telegram users can now send video messages to one another two different ways: the mic icon to switch to camera mode, then tap and hold to record a video message or by swiping up while in hands-free mode.

So if you are a channel admin, you can post video messages to your channel subscribers as well. Telegram claims that sending these videos are quick because the app actually compresses the clip even as it is being recorded.

The messaging app also introduced a chat bot payment feature, which means Bot developers can now accept payments from users worldwide. Telegram will host the videos and users can subsequently view them on the channel's Telescope.

The second novelty we found out is that of the video messages. The mechanics simply states that you choose a website from their list and create the ideal set of rules to parse the articles to Instant View.

The popular internet messaging app, Telegram is receiving some major features with the new 4.0 update. You'll be able to see video messages sent to you while going through other chats, as the video goes to the corner and continues paying. When you tap Pay, you'll be asked to fill in your credit card and shipping information and confirm the payment.

The good thing is that you don't need a Telegram account to view public video messages.

Telegram extends the Bot platform to equip them for fetching payments if you shop for goods and services online. Beyond merely showing the text of an article, Instant View pages support images, videos, and any other media. - Anyone can create article previews with our new Instant View Editor.

Instant View gives you a more readable format for those external links, even if the website itself is not mobile optimized.

"To generate Instant View pages, our parser bot uses templates - sets of rules that tell the bot where to find useful content and what to ignore on a particular domain or URL".
