Star Trek: Discovery: The trailer of the series is out!

Expect to have your eyes assaulted by visuals of new uniforms that can be considered to be retro uniforms in Kirk's era, as well as more hints on Sarek, Spock's father.

It has been months of speculation concerning Star Trek: Discovery, and with CBS All Access finally offering the very first official trailer to the masses at its presentation in NY yesterday afternoon.

From the onset of the trailer, we are introduced to Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), the lead character and first officer under Captain Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh).

Star Trek: "Discovery" goes where only one other "Star Trek" series has gone before with a woman in a lead role.

Star Trek: Discovery has been stuck in a bit of development limbo the past few years, having to deal with production delays as well as the departure of initial series showrunner Bryan Fuller.

To this point, details had been scarce about the latest addition to the Star Trek universe. We don't have specific dates as of yet but continue to check back here on Culturess for more news and updates as they come in.

The likes of Jason Isaacs (Captain Lorca), Doug Jones (Lt. Saru) and Shazad Latin (Lt. Tyler) also star on the much-talked about series.

As the crew comes across an unknown object at the edge of Federation space, Martin-Green and Yeoh must decide what to do when they come into contact with Klingons.

At any rate, we at least get more episodes.

The new series will debut on CBS before moving over to CBS All-Access - the premium subscription service from CBS.

Star Trek die-hards may worry about timeline continuity (something that all true Trekkies wring their hands about frequently, and that JJ Abrams conveniently sidestepped with the whole Kelvin timeline in his feature films). The series is to be aired on CBS All Access this coming fall.
