Players can expect the usual array of new skins, sprays, voice lines and more through the delivery of in-game lootboxes.
Overwatch's Anniversary Event begins on May 23rd, the same day its Game of the Year Edition launches, and will end on June 12th.
In addition, Blizzard has revealed some skins as well and it is speculated that all these new skins will also become part of the Anniversary event.
There is no information on the pricing of the four new Overwatch Anniversary skins. In fact, some fans may even prefer this approach, as it will make all the new unlockable items a surprise once the One Year Anniversary event goes live. The infamous sarcastic shrug of Gabriel Reyes, more popularly known as Reaper, in the Overwatch Uprising comic will also be making its way into the game as an emote and spray. We felt like, for our first year, it was really important not to do that stuff.
Players will also be able to level up fast, earn some loot boxes, and unlock various new customization options.
It is now unclear if all the Overwatch characters will be getting their own dancing emotes, or if only these four characters will be getting them.
However, it looks like that may change in the future, as Kaplan continued: "One thing that's really fun about Blizzard games is celebrating other Blizzard games".
The event will also coincide with a free weekend taking place across PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Despite the fanfare that Blizzard intended with the new "Legendary" skins, Korean users have been nearly all against the new designs, heavily criticizing the them through Youtube videos and an official news post on Inven.
Hopefully, more info about the upcoming Anniversary Event will come out soon.
