Houston rolled to a 1-0 lead in their first-round series against Oklahoma City with a 118-87 win on Sunday night.

Oklahoma City Thunder Lineups: PG Russell Westbrook, SG Victor Oladipo, SF Andre Roberson, PF Taj Gibson, C Steven Adams. And now, with a 2-0 lead heading into the weekend in Oklahoma City, the Rockets have control of this series.

If anything, what this game showed is that if the Thunder want to turn the series around, they can't keep letting Westbrook log 50-point triple-doubles.

MVP race between Russell Westbrook and James Harden broken down by some of the main stats. We didn't give up, we continued to grind and fight and figure out a way to win. His scoring total was the highest for a post-season triple-double in National Basketball Association history. The triple-double master churned out another one, finishing the game with 51 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists.

He shot 4-for-18 in the fourth quarter as the Rockets clawed back from a double-digit deficit to surge ahead before holding off Oklahoma City.

He was not in the mood to talk about his statistics after the game. "I really don't know what to say to that".

In that contest, we saw the best, and unfortunately, worst of Russell Westbrook and Head Coach Billy Donovan.

Sandoval said Westbrook was always present, very involved and an overall good student-athlete during his time in college.

And that's the central contradiction of the Oklahoma City Thunder. "It's nice to play well and get the win because you have to, but this is just one little step.in the big scheme of things".

Russell Westbrook made 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists in the game-1 loss.

In this collision of NBA Most Valuable Player award candidates, James Harden was decidedly better during Houston's Game 1 blowout of the Thunder. He hoisted 18 shots in the fourth quarter, more than anyone took in the game, and only made four.

Gordon tallied 22 points off the bench while Williams added 21. When he went on a seven-game triple-double run between end-November to early-December 2016, Westbrook also became the first player since Michael Jordan did so in 1989 to hit such a streak. Meanwhile, James Harden came in with seven minutes to go in the game, scored seven points down the stretch and steered the ship into port. The Thunder had missed seven straight shots when Westbrook got them back on track with a layup with about eight minutes left. Newly added shooting guard Lou Williams averages 14.9 points per game while shooting guard Trevor Ariza has put up 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

Maurice Harkless scored all of his 15 points in the first half and the Blazers gave up seven straight points to start the third as the Warriors were off and running. Roberson scored the second-most points for OKC and he spent most of the game with an eight-foot cushion as the Rockets begged him to shoot wide-open jumpers. Oklahoma City has not won at Houston this year in three tries. Rookie Patrick McCaw earned his first playoff start in place of Durant and had nine points and five rebounds. The Houston Rockets are shooting 33.9 percent from beyond the arc and 73 percent from the free throw line. He is one of just four players since 1993-94 to score at least 20 points off the bench at least 30 times in a season. "We need him to have big efforts, and I think in the fourth quarter he was able to provide that".
