Bandai Namco's new secret Prepare To Dine project has been leaked ahead of schedule: the game is called "Code Vein", and features a new kind of dungeon crawling with action RPG elements and a creepy, hallowed storyline with revenants and vampires.
In order to survive, Revenants live in an isolated society called "Vein". These monsters are Revenants suffering from a blood deficiency that's caused them to transform. They will mostly wield melee weapons such as great swords, one-handed swords, spears, and hammers. A piece of equipment which functions as armor, called a Blood Veil, is used by Revenants to drain the blood of the Lost.
Tempered Blood - An action triggered by sucking up the blood of the Lost with the Blood Veil. This allows you to power yourself up, debuff enemies, do direct attacks, and other uses. We'll make sure to keep you updated on any new info for the title, and make sure to watch the teaser trailer down below.
Code Vein mashes up two pop culture staples: ravaged worlds and hungry vampires. It'll be developed in tandem with the God Eater series, it'll also have no ties to God Eater.
Further details on Code Vein are scarce at the moment, although the game is being directed by Hiroshi Yoshimura (Gods Eater Burst) and is still at a fairly early stage of development.
The developers described the meaning behind the English word of "Vein" and "Code". It runs on Unreal Engine 4 but does not yet have any confirmed platforms.
The title implies there is a hidden truth in the closed world players will explore, Vein.
They're calling the genre for it a "dramatic dungeon-exploring action RPG".
Your "Buddy" is controlled by AI, but there will be times where the players will need to help their Buddies. A video is expected, and possibly screens, but a gameplay trailer won't be released until May. Code Vein will have no connection to God Eater, and is its own separate IP.
